FREE UPGRADE FOR ALL DIAL-UP CUSTOMERS
Effective June 1, 2005
Please follow these simple instructions in order to take advantage of our ALL NEW v.92, Web Accelerator enabled NETWORK!
It will be necessary to change the phone number your computer dials AND CHANGE YOUR SMTP SERVER if you use our email service. When the dial-up box opens on your screen, click PROPERTIES (this is where you would usually click DIAL or CONNECT.
In the Properties Box you will notice the phone number that your computer is currently dialing. Change to the appropriate number from the list below. BE VERY CAREFUL to choose the right number. The phone company will have no mercy if you inadvertently dial the wrong number and accumulate toll charges. If you check with your Operator, and are told that the new number will be a toll call, please immediately call ColusaNET and report this. Our new access numbers for the Colusa county area are as follows:
Colusa (458) dial 948-1350 (a
Meridian number)
Williams (473) dial 501-1350 (a Williams number)
Maxwell (438) dial 501-1350 (a Williams number)
Grimes (437) dial 948-1350 (a Meridian number)
Arbuckle (476) dial 508-1350 (a Dunnigan number)
The bottom line is this: if you can normally call Meridian as a local call, use 948-1350 for your ColusaNET access number. If you can normally call Dunnigan as a local call, use 508-1350 as your ColusaNET access number. If you can normally call Williams as a local call, use 501-1350 as your ColusaNET access number.
When accessing ColusaNET dial-up, your username must now be changed to your full email address, such as jdoe@colusanet.com. This change is only required for the dial-up settings.
Change your SMTP server as explained below: (Note: when changing your smtp server as described below, do NOT change the username to the full email address, this is only required in the dial-up settings, not in the email software. The ONLY change to email software settings is the new name of the SMTP server.

DIFFICULTY MAKING THE CHANGE?
It has become apparent that some copies of Windows may have a bug that
requires them to create a brand new dial-up connection, instead of
simply replacing the old information with the new. If you are finding that
you can establish a connection when using the new number, but cannot get webpages or email - your machine may have the above mentioned bug. Please
follow the below instructions (for the appropriate Operating System) in order to
create a new connection.
**After you click on the CONNECTIONS tab (step 5 in XP, step 4 in 95 or 98) make sure to REMOVE the existing ColusaNET connection before continuing with the set-up. It is also a good idea to remove the shortcut to ColusaNET from your desktop, as a new one will be created as part of the set-up process.
